  1. It shouldn’t be surprising that there is a large number of Civil War soldiers missing in action. At the same time, an article from the BBC on March 19, 2024 reports a US soldiers remains have been identified after 80 years. It further points out 72,000 Americans are still listed as missing by the US Government.
